Silver staining is a sensitive technique for the visualization of proteins in poly-acrylamide gels. The conventional silver staining protocol requires the use of formaldehyde, that is non compatible with some downstream applications (in particular protein identification by mass spectrometry) if used at high concentrations. This protocol (adapted from Schevchenko A et al, 1990) requires a reduced amount of formaldehyde and allows the analysis of bands/spots by MS spec....
